A Notable 40th Anniversary
(It makes me tired just thinking about it…I’ll never catch up on lost sleep!)
On the night of February 4th, morning of the 5th, 1981, I began an 11-hour vigil for aurora on the frigid windblown Copper River Delta.
At around 4:30 a.m. patience prevailed & I was treated to a 4 ½ minute, once-in-a-lifetime scene…
Now, on this 40th Anniversary of that great event, I still haven’t beheld any single aurora quite like it!
Yet there have been many equally rare one-of-a-kind auroral displays dancing in its wake!
As our sun is still slowly rising out of the present Solar Minimum into Solar Cycle #25, I reflect on what a cold-fingered, extremely patient experience it has all been…so far!
I hope each & every one of you across the globe are well!
Clear Skies!
Dave
