“…The frozen snow covered Talkeetna River meanders through the forest below as the great moonlit massif of the central Alaska Range peaks over sixty miles away extends just shy of four miles high above the Susitna Valley.  Shortly before the midnight hour, an enormous wall of rare lavender-colored rayed aurora commands the starfields, rising hundreds of miles above our Earth and turning the summits below into mere bumps. Stunning scenes like this are an awesome reminder that stellar winds have graced the world’s high latitude night skies with such colorful brilliance since time immemorial…”
