“…When natural forces come together concisely, a certain magic ensues. In this dreamlike scene enormous chunks of glacial ice, calved earlier by tide water glaciers at the head of College Fjord, are abandoned on the beach by the receding tide and eerily lit by moonset. In mid-foreground the remains of a forest killed by Alaska’s great ’64 quake rise stark & bare a half century later. Farther up the huge fjord, the lofty peaks of the central Chugach Mountains are moon-lit, as a pastel auroral arc & the Milky Way grace the night together.…”
