“…The massive glacier-carved peaks of Mount Maynard (4,050 ft), Baird Peak (3,698 ft) and the ridgeline of Byron Peak ($,551 ft) in Portage Glacier Valley are the dividing rock of the Chugach and Kenai Mountain Ranges. In the east a mixed palette of vibrant aurora bisects the luxurious blue twilight of an Alaskan spring 'night', dwarfing the great boulder uplifts. The collage of sweet light casts silver and shadow across the remaining winter's snow cover, as it certainly has done so numerous times over untold ice ages…”
