“Redoubt Volcano Panorama - B&W”
© 2009

After a couple of months of major instability & a few ample eruptions, the first in 20 years, 10,197 foot Mt. Redoubt finally begins to subside in intensity. In this grand view from 12,000 feet & looking south, Redoubt continues to expel steam & ash into the upper level winds, sending the ash cloud over Cook Inlet & towards the Kenai Peninsula. Low level clouds fill in the lower valleys letting only the higher peaks show through. Activity has returned so far to a steam plume hardly discernable from cloud cover.
