“…Down-sloping clouds cap the ridgelines and peaks of 20 Mile Valley, in the distance, and Portage Valley like frosting on a cake, depicting the turmoil of high pressure fighting against low pressure. A low rising moon casts its glow as the glassy surface of Portage River glides by slowly through the ice edges on its way to the sea. Tilting trees at the rivers bend attest to the high waters of summer cutting into the banks. In seconds a brief explosion of emerald green aurora sweeps across the sky, snapping to and fro like celestial flags in the wind…”
