“…The central Alaska Range is blanketed by the ivory sweetlight of a low spring moonset, with Denali, the gem in the setting, reaching for the stars and backlit by soft aurora. The relentless Northwind had continued for days keeping skies clear. After several nights of patient sky-watching with little success, auroral arcs began to originate from the northeast. In an extremely brief explosion of power, one arc suddenly filled with very rare and vivid pillars that began dancing like piano keys undulating high above our Earth. The ‘recital’ lasted mere seconds, spent all its energy and dispersed throughout the edge of space…”
