“…In the early pre-dawn hours, as the full moon descended in the southwest beyond the Kenai Mountains, vibrant colorful auroral sheets swept the star-filled heavens over Alaska. In the perpetual tug-of-war between the moon & the oceans of Earth, the vast Turnagain Arm in the foreground flushes twice a day with the turbid heavily glacial silted sea water of northern Cook Inlet, which itself experiences the second highest tides in the world. Hours before this scene came together the tide receded like a running river. At this moment the roar of grinding ice & powerful waves could be heard off in the distance, becoming very loud. In seconds a massive tidal bore pushed across the vista filling the tributary instantly. There are times when many extraordinary & magnificent events of the natural world come together briefly…”
