“…Twilight sank quietly in the west, plunging the river delta into deep autumn darkness. A few hours later, the subtle glow of the pending moonrise began to appear behind the western Chugach Mountains. As the disk rose just above the silhouetted peaks, soft aurora played in and out of the night, teasing the scene. In time, with the moon fully up and lending it’s sweet light across the river surface like silk, grand explosions of radiant aurora danced and swirled amid the stars. The magnificent vista lasted only an instant, spent its energy and dissipated, leaving behind the moon and stars to light the way…”
