IMPORTANT LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

The most amazing things can happen now with the advent of photographic and energy measuring satellites. For instance, if you click on the photo at the left, it will take you to the site where an instantaneous 'top' view of Auroral Activity is portrayed, and it shows what Aurora activity has taken place over the north and south poles DURING THE PAST HOUR - no matter where you are, and the intensity of the activity. There is a vector on the map showing where 'noon' was at the time the measurements were made. It is updated every ten minutes. Obviously the activity goes on 24 hours a day, even if it is too light for you to see it at your location . Will the Aurora be visible at your location tonight ? Take a look -Courtesy of the NOAA branch of the U.S. Government. Simply amazing!!

Utilizing the data collected from the satellites above, scientists at the Geophysical Institute of the  University of Alaska can predict the approximate locations of the Auroral Activity in Alaska and its projected intensity. Click on the map of Alaska and extreme Easter Russia to see their prediction for today, tomorrow, and what was predicted for yesterday. There is also a set of links to unique bibliographical articles, and other links of interest concerning the Aurora Borealis.
